A Community Builder and Father
“I am dedicated to supporting policies and initiatives that empower our students, respect our educators, and strengthen our community. ” Remoun says. “I also recognize the importance of listening to the voices of our neighbors and embracing the responsibility to serve with integrity, transparency, and care.”
Remoun Abraham is a parent of two who has lived in Deerfield for over 10 years. Both of his children attend Wilmot Elementary. Remoun participated in the D109 Return to School Covid task force in the summer of 2020 and wants to provide continuity and continue the level of excellence the current School Board has provided. "Accepting this nomination is both an honor and a meaningful opportunity to give back to a community that has welcomed my family with open arms since day one. Deerfield has been our home for over 10 years, and I have seen firsthand the impact our schools have on shaping the future" said Remoun.
As a first-time board member, he is not focused on any single issue, but wants to help drive discussions with both the administration and the community to identify opportunities and partner with experts to improve and execute better. He said, "I am in agreement that the district needs a long term plan on making sure the facilities that our children use and the great teachers, teach in, are the most functional and effective spaces. "
