Endorsed Candidate: Nick Begley

Nick Begley
A 27-year Deerfield resident, Nick Begley is seeking his fifth term on the DPS 109 Board of Education.

He is seeking re-election because he wants to continue to work to improve the district’s performance, including on maintaining its education excellence, improving its facilities, and ensuring responsible financial management.

A graduate of Chicago Public Schools, Begley says he never takes it for granted how lucky Deerfield is to have such high-performing public schools—and why the district must work hard to constantly balance competing interests including the challenges of tough financial times.

Begley is currently president of the Board and a member of its Executive Development committee. Prior to joining the Board, he was a founding member and treasurer of SOS 109, the community group that helped steer the successful 2005 operating referendum for District 109.

“As a current board member, I believe we should continue to review our programs to ensure that we are providing the best opportunities for all of our children,” Begley said. “To remain a high performing district, we must continue to enhance the curriculum with the goal of improving results for all of our students.”

Begley received his BS/BA from Roosevelt University and a master’s of management from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School. He is a banking professional and a certified public accountant.

An active community member, Begley has been involved in the American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO), Deerfield Park District athletics, and Boy Scouts. He has four children, one of whom currently attends a District 109 school.
