Endorsed Candidate: Sari Montgomery

Sari Montgomery has lived in Riverwoods for 12 years and has a seventh-grade daughter at Caruso Middle School, and two sons at DHS. She is seeking re-election to the District 109 School Board because she is passionate about ensuring that we provide a world-class education for the children of our District. She believes that her experiences both within and outside of the District will enable her to continue to contribute to the continued growth of all the District’s students

In her first term on the board, Sari, who currently serves as Board Secretary and Chair of the Finance Committee, has also been a member of the Executive Development and Policy Committees. She was a board representative on the Superintendent’s Task Force for Middle Level Education, and participated in the selection process for administrative staff.

She is proud of the great progress the District has made in the past four years in all areas, but recognizes that there is always room for improvement.

"I am excited about the new initiatives and direction the district will be pursuing as part of its new strategic plan, and will work to ensure that it does so in a transparent and fiscally responsible manner," Sari said.

Sari is an attorney with a practice focused on legal ethics and professional responsibility. In addition, she has taught as an Adjunct Professor at Loyola University Chicago School of Law. She is also a member of several local, state and national professional organizations and recently served as the Chair of the Illinois State Bar Association’s Committee on Professional Conduct, which drafts ethics opinions on a wide variety of legal issues for the association’s 30,000 members. In addition to her professional work and service on the DPS 109 Board, Montgomery continues to serve on the boards of several local nonprofit organizations that focus on providing services to children and families

Sari earned a B.A. in public policy from the University of Chicago and her J.D. from Loyola University Chicago. In her spare time, she and her husband, Mike, enjoy spending time with family, watching their children’s sporting events and music performances, reading, and travel.
