Kenneth J. Ashman

Kenneth J. Ashman is a current DPS 109 School Board member and a Riverwoods resident for the last 18 years, having raised four children in the district. One of his kids has special needs, so he has experienced the full panoply of educational services in the District, adding a deeper understanding of the District’s needs and resources.

“It is very hard to imagine a more important responsibility than to ensure the education of our children,” Ashman said. “I take great pride in the DPS 109 community, and it is an honor for me to serve as one of the community’s representatives on the school board.” READ MORE ...

Nicholas (Nick) Begley

A 27-year Deerfield resident, Nick Begley is seeking his fifth term on the DPS 109 Board of Education. He is seeking re-election because he wants to continue to work to improve the district’s performance, including on maintaining its education excellence, improving its facilities, and ensuring responsible financial management.

“As a current board member, I believe we should continue to review our programs to ensure that we are providing the best opportunities for all of our children,” Begley said. “To remain a high performing district, we must continue to enhance the curriculum with the goal of improving results                              for all of our students.” READ MORE ...

Ryan Kuo

A military veteran, business leader, and entrepreneur, Ryan Kuo has lived in Deerfield for the past five years. He was appointed to replace an outgoing member on the Board of Education in July 2017. This is his first election running for a seat on the 109 Board of Education.

“I have spent over 13 years in service to the country as an officer in the United States Army, and applied for my current appointment to the DPS109 Board of Education as a way to serve my community, and more specifically, its children,” Kuo said. READ MORE ...
