Caucus Endorses Four Candidates for DPS 109 Board of Education
DEERFIELD (Thursday, December 14) -- The Deerfield District 109 Caucus
voted to endorse four candidates for the Board of Education on Monday,
December 5. The candidates will be running for the four open 109 Deerfield
Public Schools (DPS) Board of Education seats in the April 4 consolidated
election. Each seat is for a four‐year term.
They are (in alphabetical order):
• Katie Bittner
• Scott Kluge
• Sari Montgomery
• Ron Worth
Following two rounds of interviews on November 28 and December
5, the 17 Caucus members slated the four candidates late on December 5 after
two hours of deliberation. All four are current board members seeking another
term.
“Each election year is very unique and heavily dependent on
the current zeitgeist of the particular BOE term. The fact that the four Caucus
candidate seats up for election are sought after by the four incumbent Board
Members is a positive statement on the current direction of the district,” said
O’Neal Miller, Caucus Chair.
“The Caucus is a good representation of the different voices
within our community, and our decision to endorse these candidates portends a
healthy level of satisfaction within our district,” Miller continued. “Our
endorsed candidates are strong representatives of our community, who are driven
by a sense of duty and a desire to make the district even better.”
